Welcome everyone to a new pick-a-deck reading!
For this week’s reading, I went back to the beautiful #TomasHijo trio:
Pile 1: Lord of the Rings Tarot
Pile 2: The Dark Crystal Tarot
Pile 3: Labyrinth Tarot
Oracle deck: The Folklore OracleLet’s see what the week of the Spring Equinox might bring you!
Lord of the Rings Tarot.
Oneiroi flies into your weekly reading to hint to the fact that maybe you’ve not been sleeping enough or well. This night creature would like to deliver messages to you through dreams, and so dream you should: try reducing screen time, opting maybe for a nice relaxing book, spray some lavender on your pillow, make sure you leave a few hours between your dinner and bedtime, keep pen and paper on your bedside table.
Given the energy of the week shown in your cards, you might feel like there’s no way out of your situation, or at least this is what your conscious mind is telling you! The subconscious might have the answers you look for. Eight of Swords shows you that you might be risking getting all tangled up in your own web: as anxiety and worry settle deeper into your mind, finding a solution seems impossible, but it’s not; you are momentarily wrapped up into the issue at hand, you struggle to see it objectively because it has become overwhelming. I know it’s hard, yet you can get out of it.The first thing to do is learn that it’s time to open up to that dear friend that has been checking on you and ask them their opinion. Most likely, not being the one directly involved, they will have a different perspective on the matter at hand. Moreover, being a person you trust and cherish, you will not feel judged, and speak openly, managing to regain a bit of serenity, some peace of mind.
Two of Cups speaks of bonds like Sam and Frodo, or Gimli and Legolas, soul siblings that can count on eachother. If they’re the ones giving you headaches, well, it’s time to open your heart to them and speak plainly. The advice is carried by the Six of Wands, and it asks you to shift your focus from what’s not working, to all the (big or small) achievements you overlooked so far, distracted by the “worst case scenarios” playing into your mind. The eight that results by adding this six to the two above is definitely a better one than the swords one, and it gives way to a tune:In every life we have some troubleBut when you worry, you make it double.
Don't worry, be happy.
The Dark Crystal Tarot.
King of Vials (Cups) sets the tone of your week, inviting you to have a gentle approach, even in the face of discontentment, carried into the spread by Herne the Hunter. If the disgruntled one is you, be kind to yourself, show yourself some patience and pay attention to what caused that emotion, as the root can often show you the remedy. If it’s someone around you that is throwing temper tantrums, then the suggestion still stands.
Arguing and scolding someone right in the middle of emotional upheaval has no benefits at all, it might actually get them in a spicier mood. Showing firm empathy, on the other hand, like saying “I understand, let it out and then we can talk about it”, gives the person a sense of safety and acceptance: they can let their emotions settle, to the point that reasoning can be resumed. (King of Cups still has a strong Air influence, logic and communication)Seven of Stones (Swords), teaches you that diplomacy sometimes is essential, but becoming too sneaky and scheming could land you into more trouble than you bargained for (I think of Loki, for those of you familiar with Norse Mythology). Whatever the issue that stirred dissatisfaction, Herne invites us to count our blessings, and not be manipulated by the hunt for the next “best thing”. Be happy with what you managed to get away with, avoiding the risks greed might bring.
Knight of Shards (Wands) advices you to keep a positive mindset: I always see this Knight as the one that’s happy to chase a dream, but has enough common sense to see the impasse and work around it. Likewise, counting your blessings doesn’t mean giving up altogether, but rather gives you the chance to really understand what truly matters to you.
Labyrinth Tarot.
This week you might be inclined to focus relentlessly on a particular task. Knight of Junk (Pentacles) can be very reliable and dedicated to his job, making sure that everything is taken care of. Plans are checked two, three times, to make sure that nothing is left to chance and that the job is done. Sometimes, however, like our grounded and focused earth signs, he can become a bit too focused on the details, a bit too “play it safe”, and bring progress to a solid halt. And here comes the lesson: unleash the genius, let that mind race a little bit, allow those ideas to propel you forward. Knight of Feathers (Swords) is a polar opposite to the solid and grounded energy of the Knight of Junk, so ready to throw himself into the storm just to prove his point.
As the Latin used to say, though, “In media stat virtus”, virtue sits in the middle. This spread is not telling you to fling caution out of the window, just to release the reins a tad.The Wheel of Fortune brings you this exact advice: relax the grip on the steering wheel, and trust the lucky wind that is blowing around you, let fate guide you. The Wheel reminds us that we can’t control everything, and this is not always bad, as scary as it might sound, especially with this card implying some good fortune sweeping in.Hawk doubles down on this message.
Every now and again (just to quote Sarah from Labyrinth) it’s helpful to lift our head from the work we are doing, so we can widen our view and notice what’s happening around us. We might realise that we have the chance to speed up things, or that something else needs our attention elsewhere. Look for the perfect zoom, this week, and everything should turn out just fine.
